About the Journal

Journal of Malay Constitutional Studies (JMCS) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal published by the Raja Ali Haji Research Network (RAHRN). The journal is dedicated to advancing scholarship on Malay Constitutionalism and promoting research on constitutional law, constitutional theory, comparative constitutional law, governance, legal history, indigenous constitutionalism, and the constitutional traditions of the Malay World.

JMCS serves as an interdisciplinary forum for scholars, researchers, and practitioners to examine constitutional ideas, institutions, and legal traditions from both historical and contemporary perspectives. The journal encourages dialogue between regional constitutional experiences and global constitutional scholarship.

By connecting the constitutional heritage of the Malay World with contemporary legal developments, JMCS aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of constitutionalism in Southeast Asia and beyond.

Aims

The Journal of Malay Constitutional Studies (JMCS) aims to:

  • Advance scholarly research on Malay Constitutionalism as a distinct field of constitutional scholarship.
  • Promote original and interdisciplinary research in constitutional law and related disciplines.
  • Encourage comparative constitutional studies between the Malay World and other legal traditions.
  • Foster international academic dialogue on constitutional governance, legal history, and public ethics.
  • Provide an inclusive platform for scholars, researchers, and practitioners to disseminate high-quality research.
